Health Challenge Update

Health Challenge Update:

Well it is finally getting started around here.  I have weaned off alot of caffine!  There is not much choclate of the Christmas Menu either!  :)

I get to start very simple yoga until my tests are done and told otherwise.  EEG and Heart monitor next month.  On the side of caution I am also signed up to see a Cardiac Nurse that teaches Heart Health and more diet changes!  :(  I figured that is actually a good plan.  If my migraines are bugging my heart and dropping me tot he ground or it is actually Pre-heart stuff then it is better to get on that train now.

          So Yoga it is!

Pictures and Measurements coming soon!

Teaching this Pup new tricks with Stress

Teaching this Pup new tricks with Stress

Hopefully I will catch a few of you.  You see recently I had an adventure with  Christmas Shopping, the side walk, and the emergency room.  Just one the weekend I collapsed and it really looked like I just missed the step up to the curb.  If you looked closer you would realize something was seriously wrong.  My arms were underneath me and not out stretched to catch myself.  Needless to say I'm banged up and in need of more x-rays yet that part doesn't bother me so much.
What does?  Well I was told either I have advanced BTM or to explain it in simpler terms A-typical Full Sensory Migraine which means my body shut down at the brain stem area.  Then there is the possibility I am having pre-heart attack symptoms.  End result is a lot of testing to be done over the holidays to find out which one and why.  Here is the kicker: I am 42 years of age.
I have been accused in the past of having a Stoic personality.  Everything just rolls off of me.  I laugh, giggle and joke around.  I push through anything and everything without even a hint of difficulty or worry.  When it does occur I ask others to stand with me for any required assistance.  I delegate the worry part.  :)  There was this employer once that said "It will be Less Stress on you."  Well I can now say that this is what stress looks like for me and I never had stress in that job.  People's perceptions without knowing the individual.  Does get annoying.  Not stressful to me...just annoying.  Yet, perceptions go rampant this time of year.  Don't they?
Anyways, I have learned a few things that are not new and that I have applied before.  Most people tend to forget them.  The reason I am mentioning them is due to the time of year and well the emergency room is usually overly busy this time of year.  These tips may help keep you out of the hospital with a little organizing and paying attention to details and time.
  1. While partying this season.  Book evenings that are planned relaxation.  Like a movie (go early to avoid line-ups and bring good conversation.) or quiet night in. (no fuss, no muss)
  2. Reduce the drinking.  Personally I have one or two every other year, yet for some people this time of year gets pretty rowdy.  Seriously think about reducing the intake as it can complicate any stress physical reaction you may have.  It causes diagnostic difficulty at the hospital.
  3. Give yourself plenty of time to do anything.  Getting ready to go.  Making a meal.  Driving (think of traffic ad parking issues).  Shopping time.
  4. Ladies if you are overwhelmed with any of it.  Book a pillow date.  Pound the stuffing out of it, squeeze it to heck, vent into it, call a buddy and vent.  Don't let it eat you up.
  5. Delegate things that need to be done.  I know everyone is busy with their own things.  Seriously teens can still help out and friends can still have a coffee over gift wrapping.  Just ask nicely.
  6. Book your own down time.  A long bath.  A half hour walk.  Something.
  7. Snow shovelers.  Smaller amounts at one time.  Recruit some help.
  8. Cut back on how many outings you will be attending.  Keep the most important ones.  Throw out the rest and book those individuals for a coffee or light lunch tea later.
  9. I am adding this for those who do it.  Add in a little extra prayer time.
Doing these things will reduce the stress risk of heart and stroke problems, migraines, emotional concerns, stomach and bowel problems, and weakness issues etc.  They will also reduce accidents in the kitchen, while at play, and with ice related falls.  For those who know they have stress conditions really pay attention to the body and emotional signs.
I don't even know if my condition (whatever it is) is a stress condition.  I do know it is a health and life concern.  Either way these tips apply for a safer and happier holiday season.
Make safety plans for a safer season to enjoy loved ones and to have a really good start to the new year!  Here's to good health!

When thinking to much takes over

When thinking to much takes over:

Did you every have one of those days when you think it is all to much to even think about?  Or I haven't got time to think?  When, really, We are stuck in over think mode and can not shut it off.

          I hate days like that.

I admit....I have "issues".  (Now think that word with over dramatized, exaggerated and over the top emphasis.)  Every person with PTSD or OSI has them.  Every person with Trauma and/or Drama has them.  Oh heck...for that matter...everyone has them!  We're not lie--ing here.  Not to the world or to ourselves.  We are the big kids and own up to our faults and are willing to change.  RIGHT?

Well I found myself with thinking to much.  How do I do this?  How do I arrange that?  I am in the middle of moving my Mom and so very busy.  Organizing.  Planning.  Change.  I found myself doing this one.  It gets annoying.  Well, since we are speaking honestly, there are a few other choice words that could be used and I am sure you have a few of your own.  Like: frustrating, tiring, exasperating, and so much more.  You probably have your own list.

I have a few bad habits and I know they don't work yet I did find one that does for me.  A long hot drain the tank type shower.  I know that is not eco friendly so I had to do some research into me.  I broke open old journals, agendas, and diaries.

This is what I found and I know they work for me...I just have a hard time sometimes remembering them:

  1. Give yourself a time out.  (make an excuse to go to the washroom if you have to.)
  2. Put on your favorite music when in a position do so.
  3. Deep breathing.  Force yourself to think about anything other than what has your mental energy consumed with.
  4. Put everything in your head down on paper.  Then there is not so much thought.
  5. Call your favorite person and talk about the thing that has you so bottled up in your head.
These are just a few things to relieve the thinking to much "issues".  Try them out.  Grab a journal, or diary and track those days.  Push yourself to remember to keep track until you find the trick that works for you.  Change is good for this one!  It will take a bit of time.  Totally worth it!  If you have this one as a problem area to organize then the above is how we do it.

Free up the brain space.  Holidays are much more fun!

Seasonal December number 2

Seasonal December number 2

The season already has it Grinches and Scrooges out and about.  I readily admit that I have a limit for grouchie, cranky, incompentant sales people and shoppers.  I refuse to be a Grinch or a Scrooge.  Everything is an opportunity to be polite and for me last weekend an opportunity for business.  Crafters and Small Business Christmas Expo!

"Hi!  I see you are having a difficult day.  Can I be of Service to you?"  The interesting looks were outstanding!  A simple polite conversation and asking how they were doing went along way.  Some asked what I did for a living.  Organing coach and Life Planner for private and business.  Some tried to sell me on their business for a sign up.  That's when I explained I have my own business and if they needed assistance along my lines of work I'd be more than happy to help!  It was a good weekend!

For everyday people I have restrained from catching the Grinch and Scrooge illnesses.  I smile.  I wait.  Most importantly I had already padded my time for those with the illness so I didn't catch it.

         The tips for the week:

  1. Smile!  :)
  2. Lower your tone and speak alittle softer.  Only the real hardened Grinches and Scrooges can resist.
  3. Make sure you are not in a rush.
  4. Appoligize when someone bumps into you...politely!
  5. Shop during the slower parts of the day.
Safe travels this Season!

Booking Time

Booking Time

So much in rush are most people this time of year.  Running from here to there and off to run again.  There is so much to do that some forget to take care of themselves.  That is something I do not plan to do this year.  I am making more of an effort this season as I have already noticed the Grinches and Scrooges are out early this year!

There are a couple of "spoil me rotten" items that I picked up for my me time bookings.  A favorite coffee, a licorice coffee organic soap, a few new writting things.  I even gave myself time to pre-write this post in order to have time for me in the busy week ahead.  Now, that is planning!

Take the time this week and pull out your organizer.  I hope you all use one of some sort.  Planning "me" time is not so easy when you live by the seat of your pants during a busy time of year.  Organizing time is so much better at this time of year.  Book time for you even if it is 15 minutes a day.  Maybe acouple of 15 minutes a day and if you are lucky book an hour or two solid straight through once a week.

Remember to give yourself extra time this month to run errands and do activities.  Everyone else is in a rush too.

Keep a smile on your face and time on your side!  Don't be a Grinch or a Scrooge.

Have a great Season!
